JOINT


JOINT
A joint is the location at which two or more bones make contact
The joint classified into three types as follow:
1.     Synarthronis (sendi mati)
Synarthronis is a joint which permits no movement. The connector in this joint are connective fibers.
2.     Amphiarthronis (sendi kaku)
Amphiarthronis is a joint which permits slight movement. The connector in this joint is the cartilage tissue.
3.     Diarthronis (sendi gerak)
Diarthronis is a joint which permits free movement. The connector in this joint is synovial fluid.

Types of Diarthronis:
a.     The Hinge Joints (sendi engsel)
The hing joints are the joints which only allow in one direction. Example: knee and elbow joints.
b.    The Pivot Joints (sendi putar)
The pivot joints are the joints which allow bone to rotate around another bone. Example: the joints between the atlas and axis neck bone which enable you to turn your head.
c.     The Saddle Joints
The saddle joints are the joints which resemble a saddle. example: joints is the thumb between the metacarpal and carpal.
d.    The Ball and socket Joints
The ball and socket joints are the joints which enable movement in all direction.
